Caving at Labertouche
Are you ready to explore the depths of the earth and wade through subterranean rivers; marvel at phosphorus glow worms, cross chasms and explore the caverns of this unique granite boulder cave system? If this sounds undeniably awesome to you then come along! Adventure caving is a great way to see the earth from a totally different perspective
Description
Labertouche is a fascinating explorative adventure caving journey and is suitable for all levels of experience, whether you're a newbie or a seasoned veteran. This caving adventure is around 3 hours long and starts with an abseil into the cave. With only one entry and one exit, this caving adventure is not for the faint at heart.
At its deepest point the granite boulder cave is around 40 metres underground, which has been carved out by fast flowing water!
Our route follows an underground creek, which flows from one end and out the other! We will be climbing over giant boulders, squeezing through some tight spaces, negotiating challenging obstacles and wading through subterranean waters. If you are feeling adventurous this is the cave for you!
Being one of only 5 granite boulder caves in Victoria makes it quite a rare cave, and one perfect for adventure caving or Spelunking as it is otherwise known!
As we climb over car size boulders and make our way through the dark passages of Labertouche cave, you will be in awe over the sights unfolding before you in this magnificent cave system. Over the next few hours you will slide, crawl and climb your way through the cave whilst negotiating fast flowing rivers, chasms and hidden chambers in this complex maze of tunnels.
This cave is suitable for most people with an adventurous side to them, however there is only one entry and one exit point, so once you are inside the cave you are 100% committed to finishing it. If you are feeling nervous or intimidated, we recommend our other caving experience in Britannia caves, which has multiple exit points and slightly less confronting.
Remember this is not your average guided walk-around caving experience- this is adventure caving or Spelunking as it is otherwise called! You will be crawling on your hands and knees, scrambling over rocks, sliding, navigating some tight spaces, exploring hidden caverns and getting wet and muddy.
This adventure can be quite physical but guaranteed it is worth the effort. This is an activity close to Melbourne that can be enjoyed by almost anyone so get ready for the awesomeness and come caving with us!
